Based on postcolonial approach, this research explores the sense ofbelonging, or the idea of "home" embedded in plays by well-known British dramatists of the twentieth century. The changes from Empireto Commonwealth, and to a welfare stateafter the Second World War, are among the key factors establishing the sense of belonging to Britainand the sense of a British national identity. This study helps to explain how Britain survived decolonization and the fall of the British Empire.

本研究从后殖民主义的角度出发，探讨了世纪英国著名剧作家戏剧作品中的归属感，即“家”的观念。从帝国到英联邦，再到二战后福利国家的转变，是确立英国归属感和英国民族认同感的关键因素之一。这项研究有助于解释英国如何在非殖民化和大英帝国的衰落中幸存下来。
