项目摘要

本研究は、大衆社会化過程における若者の政治運動を、演説や結社などの政治文化および反既成政党=「無党派」的志向性に着目しつつ分析することによって、近代日本における若者と政治との関係性を明らかにすることを目的とするものである。今年度は、日露戦後から大正期にかけて活溌な政治運動を展開した「院外青年」(中央議院外を政治運動の主なフィールドとした若者)、とりわけ橋本徹馬によって率いられた立憲青年党の動向を明らかにすることに努めた。それは冒頭の目的全体に照らせば、「院外青年」運動の全体像をまとめる(他系統の運動から得られた知見との総合を計る)という基礎的研究の総括段階に相当している。具体的には、以下のような手順・方法をもって研究を進めた。1、文献・資料の精査年間を通じ、主として政治史関係の基礎文献を収集・精査するとともに、立憲青年党の機関誌『一大帝国』および『労働世界』の調査を進めた。後者については、経年劣化のため複写・撮影とも許されず難航したが、前者については当初の目的を達した。2、中心人物の周辺調査まず4月に橋本が1924年に組織した結社「紫雲荘」を訪問し一次資料の所在を調査した。そこで『一大帝国』の一部複写という便宜を得たものの、他資料の手がかりを得ることはできなかった。そこで研究計画調書記載の代替案を実行に移し、9月に橋本の郷里愛媛県、尾崎士郎の郷里愛知県において資料調査を行った。前者においては、新居郡において発生した産米検査実施問題に絡む地主・小作間対立への橋本の積極的な関与を確認し、「院外青年」の地域問題への介入という新たな知見を得ることができた。3、論考として整理以上から得られた成果をまとめ、今年1月に開かれた学習院大学東洋文化研究所主催の国際シンポジウムにおいて報告した。また現在、学会誌への投稿準備を進めている。
