项目摘要

本研究の主目的は、1.日本古代中世歴史用語・歴史語彙の英語への翻訳基準の設定、2.欧米における前近代日本学研究関連文献に見られる歴史用語・語彙の翻訳状況に関する情報収集・検討、およびそれらの電子情報化などによって日本史研究の一層の国際化を目指すことである。1.許可を得ている英語・フランス語・ドイツ語研究書からの項目編集を行うと同時に、新規項目と、語彙の充実、偏りの是正を行った。また、新たにローマ字による検索機能を追加した。それまでは、利用者がコンピュータ上で日本語を扱える環境にあることや、日本語での史料用語を知っていることなどが前提となっていたが、ローマ字検索機能を加えることで、使用するコンピュータ環境によって日本語の入力が不可能な場合や、当該項目の読みはわかっているが漢字がわからないといったケースにも対応することが可能になった。これによって、利用者の幅を広げ、双方向ネットワークとしての機能をより充実させる条件を整えることができた。2.第5回国際研究集会「日本学研究における資料の諸相とその利用」(7月、史料編纂所)、南カリフォルニア(7-8月)・プリンストン・コロンビア・イェール・ハーバードの各大学(10月)にて、グロッサリー紹介と、アメリカ日本学研究における前近代史・思想史用語・語彙の英語への翻訳状況について意見交換を行い、より具体的なデータベース作成作業の方針が立てられた。また、副研究として挙げた、古代中世期における中国文化の受容と、それにともなう聖徳太子信仰・対外観・世界観の形成に関する研究については、(1)スタンフォード大学(9月)、(2)コロンビア大学(10月)、(3)南カリフォルニア大学(10月)、(4)天神太子研究会(11月)という、国内外の学会・研究会においてそれぞれ研究発表を行った。(4)での報告は、論文として『東京大学史料編纂所研究紀要』第15号に掲載された。
