Theoretical and Practical Studies on the Crossing between Philosophy and Natural Science concerning Matter, Life, and Person

我们的课题是关于哲学应该如何与自然科学交流学术思想的问题。为了开展这个项目，我们突出了三个关键词，即“物质”，“生命”，“人”，这与约翰·洛克历史上著名的三种身份概念的区分相对应。在物质方面，我们主要研究大脑的生理现象与人的心理之间的关系。至于生活，我们从应用伦理学的角度进行研究。例如，Ichinose发表了一篇关于自由意志辩论中的死刑的论文。以人为例，我们考察了休谟的个人同一性概念，或者从现象学的角度考察了“关心”的概念。此外，我们对2011年3月11日袭击日本东部地区的大地震和海啸以及随后发生的福岛核电站放射性物质泄漏事故作出了反应。我们发表了关于物理和医学的论文。

Our project is concerned with a question on how philosophy should interchange academic ideas with natural science. In order to carry out the project, we highlight three keywords, namely, "matter", "life", "person", which correspond to John Locke's historically famous distinction of the three notions of identity. As to matter, we mainly studied the relation between physiological phenomena of brain and human mind. As to life, we conducted research from a applied ethic's point of view. For instance, Ichinose published a paper on the death penalty in the light of free will debate. As to person, for example, we investigated Hume's concept of personal identity, or examined the notion of "care" from Phenomenology's viewpoint. Additionally, we reacted to the big earthquake and tsunami that attacked the East part of Japan on 11 March 2011 followed by the Fukushima nuclear power plant's accident that emitted radioactive matters. We published papers, considering physics and medicine.
