Melancholia and childhood: in search of an origin of modern French literature

通过对“忧郁症”和“童年”这两个主题的分析，我们的研究试图从一个不同于“不断更新的美学”的角度来理解法国现代文学。不断寻求新的形式和审美的“间断传统”被认为是现代文学最显著的特征之一。然而，对“忧郁症”、“童年”等主题的审视，无疑揭示了这些主题的传承。本研究不是从“间断”的角度，而是从“继承”的角度重新审视现代文学。

Through an analysis of the themes of “melancholia” and “childhood”, our research seeks to understand modern French literature from a perspective which differs from “aesthetics of unceasing renewal”. The “tradition of discontinuity”, that continues to seek new forms and aesthetics, had been considered as one of the most remarkable characteristics of the modern literature. However, the examination of the topics such as “melancholia” and “childhood” reveals undoubtedly the inheritance of these topics. This study is an attempt to re-examine the modern literature, not from the perspective of “discontinuity”, but from that of “inheritance”.
