As for the terminology of Japanese houses, creating the database on the correspondence among the various literatures, the advisable terms have been proposed. Then analyzing the prefix and root of each word, credibility of the image of the terms has beenverified according to the result of interviews with knowledgeable persons. As for the comparison of the terminology between Japan and Britain, based on the concept of timber construction and historic transition, the comprehensive typology of the cross frames of vernacular houses has been shown contrastively. Then schematizing the comparison of the meaning of the terms, differences of the terms have become understandable visibly and systematically.

对于日本住宅的术语，通过建立各种文献之间对应关系的数据库，提出了合适的术语。然后对每个词的前缀和词根进行分析，根据有识之士的访谈结果验证了术语形象的可信度。在日英术语的比较中，基于木结构建筑和历史变迁的概念，对比展示了民居十字框架的综合类型。然后对术语含义进行系统化比较，术语的差异就变得清晰可见、系统化了。
