Inference of oversea dispersal abilities of amphibians and terrestrial reptiles in the central Ryukyu based on the island equilibrium model

Distributions of amphibians and reptiles in many islands of the Amami and Okinawa Groups were surveyed. An analysis using area-distance model showed that in a few species geographic distance from main-islands had a significant explanatory power for presence/absence of the species in an island, suggesting that overseas dispersals have taken some role in maintenance of island populations in those species. However, genetic analysis for a few species did not support this view.
