本課題での研究目的は、有権者の持つ政治知識を各有権者個体内での政治的選好形成、政治的意思決定メカニズム双方の一部として捉え、政治知識の質的側面(教科書的な知識といわゆる「政治的」な知識)によってそれらを峻別することで政治意識・行動に異なる影響を持つことを実証的に示すことにある(一部自分の研究成果からも裏付けられている:2009年日本選挙学会ポスター報告、2010年日本政治学会口頭報告)。上記目的を達成すべく、本年度はWEB調査(実施:2012年3月9日～15日、サンプル約1700、政治知識付与の実験要素、教育程度の新測定を含む)データ分析が主たる計画となった。WEB調査実験の具体的内容は、政治知識を測定する質問項目の回答後に、政治知識の質的側面に分けた形式で無作為に正答を示し(この部分が刺激)、その後にたずねる政治的態度、行動(政治的有効性感覚、争点態度、イデオロギー自己定位、民主党・自民党に対する態度、投票意図政党)に対する影響を見るものである。当データを用い、2013年3月の政治経済学会にて口頭報告を行った。刺激の効果についての分析結果は、(1)全サンプルでの分析では一貫して「投票義務感」が薄れる(2)全サンプル対象の分析で、刺激を質的差異で分類すると、教科書的な知識を付与されたグループは自民党や民主党への立場を変化さ、せ、政治的な知識を付与されたグループでは政治的有効性感覚を減少させる、といった影響がある(3)知識の初期保有でサンプルを分けた場合、知識の付与により低知識層では民主党に、高知識層では自民党へポジティブな評価をする(4)分析全般において知識付与の刺激は態度を和らげる(中道寄りにする)、ことが明らかになった。しかし、知識の質的差異がもたらす影響は直観と逆の結果であり、今後理論的な検討が必要となる。また、教育程度についての分析はデータのコーディングが自由回答であるため非常に煩雑であり、引き続き作業の途中である。
