本研究の目的は，定量的な指標による測定・比較のための手法を開発し，芸についての信念体系と演技から噺家の熟達化過程を解明することである。最終年度（平成26年度）は，フィールドワークを通して見出した「観客どうしのまばたき同期」を定量的な指標とした実験室実験を行った。まず，熟達者（噺家）と初級者（大学落語研究会員）による同じ噺の口演を刺激として提示した。その結果，熟達者の口演は初級者の口演に比べて，頻繁に強く実験参加者のまばたきを同期させた。これは，口演に含まれる表現が実験参加者の注意過程を共通したものへと導いたためだと考えられる。次に，観客の鑑賞経験による影響を検討するために，鑑賞経験がある（10回以上）観客と鑑賞経験がない観客に落語の口演ビデオを提示した。その結果，鑑賞経験がある観客の方がまばたき生起タイミングのずれが小さかった。これは，演目や噺家についての知識を持つことによってより正確な予期が可能になったためだと考えられる。ただし，噺の終盤になるにつれて両者の同期指標の差はなくなった。このため，登場人物の特徴や噺の流れが理解できれば，鑑賞経験が少なくてもより正確に予期できることが示唆される。最後に，観客どうしの相互作用による影響を検討するために，相互作用が生じる寄席状況と相互作用が生じない個人実験においてまばたき同期の程度を比較した。その結果、寄席状況においてまばたきはより同期し，相互作用が引力的に作用することが明らかになった。本研究では，観客どうしのまばたき同期という定量的な指標を用いた一連の研究によって，演芸系（演者-観客-観客系）内の複数のサブシステムである演者-観客系，観客-観客系の状態を測定・記述することに成功した。これにより噺家の熟達化過程の一端を解明することができたと思われる。今後は，縦断研究によって一人の噺家がいかに熟達していくのかを検討したい。
