本研究は、15・16世紀オスマン朝で著された歴史書に見られる「興隆」と「没落」の解釈や評価を分析し、そしてこの結果をそれら著作の著者の政治的・社会的・文化的背景と比較することによって、この時代に見られた「興隆」と「没落」の諸解釈・評価を、相互の関連や全体の中における位置づけという観点から明らかにするものである。本研究では、これらの歴史家のうち、同時代の代表的な三者であるアフメディー、イドリース・ビトリースィー、ムスタファ・アーリーを選び主な研究対象とする。平成25年度は、平成24年度の研究成果を踏まえながら、さらに研究を前進させた。まず、上記の三者を同時代の著者の系列に位置付けるために、24年度に行った著者層の分析を踏まえた上で、プロソポグラフィー研究の手法を応用し、分析・検討を行った。またこれに関連し、16世紀に長足の発展を見せる歴史記述の特性を、著者の社会的背景と内容との関連において分析し、他の分野と比較した時にどのような特徴を見せるかを検討した。またこれに関連し、オスマン朝で多く書かれた遠征記を取り上げ、収集・分析を行った。また引き続き上記の三者の歴史記述と政治思想などの分析を継続した。平成24年度はアフメディー、イドリース・ビトリースィーの作品を中心に検討を行ったが、平成25年度はアーリーの作品を中心に検討を行い、彼の歴史作品や、政治思想の内容的分析や同時代における位置づけの検討などを行った。またこれと関連して、アーリーの関心の対象となった16世紀後半のオスマン朝における政治的・社会的発展についても検討した。著者層の分析、また上記三者の言説の分析を行う上で、2009年から2011年にかけて収集した写本史料に加えて、イギリスの大英図書館、フランス国立図書館、ドイツ、オーストリアの諸図書館などの図書館に所蔵されている諸写本史料の調査を行うことが必要不可欠となる。平成25年度においても、諸図書館での調査のうち24年度において終了しなかった部分を継続し、大英図書館、ベルリン州立図書館、スレイマニエ図書館などでの現地調査を実施した。
