项目摘要

平成27年度の最大の成果は研究内容を学会や研究会で発表し投稿論文として形にすることが出来たことである。これまで本研究の目的である少数民族モンの仏教僧団の変遷について調べてきた。なかでも1980年代以降のミャンマーでは国家僧伽機構の新設と同時に、国の教学試験でもビルマ化の動きが見られるなか、モン僧伽はこれに抵抗する形で独自の試験を定期開催して民族的なまとまりを強化してきたことが分かった。平成27年12月には東南アジア学会でこの内容について発表し、また同様の内容をまとめて当学会の学会誌に論文を投稿した。当論文は査読を通過している。さらに同じく1980年代以降のミャンマーでは、モンの在家児童への母語の読み書きを教える夏期講習運動をモン僧が先導し、地域をまたいだ統一試験という形で発展させてきたことが分かった。近年は他地域に先駆けたモン州での公教育における少数言語教育の開始や、モン反政府武装勢力による国家との共存を目指したバイリンガル教育などへの注目が高まっているが、仏教僧の役割は十分に評価されてこなかった。この点、モン語教育にとっても重要な僧伽の動向を明らかに出来たのは意義がある。夏期講習を含めたモン語教育については平成27年4月のビルマ研究会にて発表した。またタイとミャンマーに関するモン語教育とモン僧伽の変遷をまとめたブックレットを執筆中であり今年中に出版予定である。さらに19世紀末から20世紀初頭のタイとミャンマーにおけるモン僧伽の動向について資料の整理や収集を行った。タイ語のマイクロフィルム資料は電子化を外注してパソコンで閲覧可能な状態にした。平成28年1月には英領植民地期のミャンマーにおける仏教教学の内容が収録された教育関連資料を米国の図書館で収集することが出来た。また同年2月にはタイで現地調査を行い、モン僧伽独自の仏教儀礼やモン語教育の新動向について把握することが出来た。
