今年度の主な研究成果は、論文“Effects of a blocking patent on R&D with endogenous survival activities”にまとめられている。本研究ではFurukawa (2013, Economics Letters)で分析された、特許権を持つ企業が、その権利を維持して生き残るために投資活動をするvariety-expansion型の内生成長モデルを用いている。このモデルにChu, Cozzi and Galli (2012, European Economic Review)で用いられた、既存企業と新規参入企業との間でのprofit-division ruleを導入して、特許権保護の強化（ここでは既存企業の新規企業に対する防衛の強化・独占力の強化を意味している）が、経済成長に及ぼす影響を分析した。結果、これまでの研究では経済成長にとって負の効果を及ぼすと考えられてきた防衛特許の効果が、企業の生存競争ための投資活動を通じて、成長率に対して正の効果を及ぼしうることを明らかにした。これは既存研究と比較して新しい結果であり、学術的に十分に意義のあるものと考えている。さらに、R&Dに対する補助金政策が経済成長に及ぼす影響についても分析を行った。結果、補助金が企業の生存競争に及ぼす負の効果が、新規参入企業による新しい財の開発に及ぼす正の効果を上回る場合、補助金政策が経済成長に対して負の効果を持ちうることを示すことができた。この結果は、補助金政策がイノベーションや成長率に正の効果を持つと考えてきた多くの先行研究と異なるものであり、Furukawa (2013)において分析された補助金政策の内容を拡張するものである。

This year's main research achievement is "Effects of a blocking patent on R&D with endogenous survival activities". Furukawa (2013, Economics Letters) analyzes the use of variety-expansion-type endogenous growth models for investment activities in the context of corporate governance, corporate governance, and profit sustainability.
