项目摘要

本研究の目的は、カンボジアのアンコール朝の最大版図を築いたジャヤヴァルマン7世統治期（12世紀後半～13世紀初）に建造された寺院群に着目し、寺院伽藍内に表現された王の世界観や宗教観、ならびに政治的意図を明らかにすることである。報告者はこれまで、この王の治世初期の仏教寺院プレア・カンについて、寺院伽藍を構成する各施設の出入口に施された装飾（以下、出入口装飾とする）を中心に調査を行い、寺域で発見された石碑の記述内容との比較検討を通して、その図像表現や配置構成に込められた象徴的意味を考察してきた。その結果として、この寺院では仏教やヒンドゥー教等の様々な尊像を伽藍内に併祀する複雑な配置構成が試みられ、ジャヤヴァルマン7世の宗教観や統治理念が重層的に表現されたことを指摘した。また、出入口装飾の様式的特徴をもとに建造時期区分を示し、寺院創建時とその後の増築期に建造された施設群とでは、浮彫装飾の主題や表現に変遷がみられることを指摘し、プレア・カン建造当時の歴史的背景をめぐる仮説を提示した。平成30年度は、上述のように、報告者がこれまで構築してきた出入口装飾の様式研究の方法論ならびに事例研究について、その後得られた知見を加えて再検討した数本の論文を執筆・発表した。さらに、以下2点の資料収集を目的とした現地調査をカンボジアで実施した。1つ目に、現在のカンボジアとタイの国境に重なるように広がるダンレーク山脈付近のシヴァ寺院の遺跡調査を行った。特に、プレア・ヴィヒアやプラサート・ネアック・ブオス（ともにプレア・ヴィヒア州）といった山脈東側の寺院群では、シヴァに関する多数の浮彫が確認された。2つ目に、ヒンドゥー教の神話叙事詩の英雄クリシュナの浮彫について、アンコール地域の遺跡を中心に調査した。現地調査で撮影した写真や記録は、今後、碑文の記述内容等との詳細な比較検討を行い、成果報告する予定である。

The purpose of this study is to show the greatest development of the temple in the 7th century (the second half of the 12th century to the beginning of the 13th century), and to show the world's religious and political significance.
