项目摘要

本年度は、博士論文「チェコスロヴァキアにおけるネイション・ステイトの形成とナショナリズムの相克」の執筆を完成させ、学位を授与された。昨年度報告したように、本研究課題の研究を進めるうちに、複数のEU加盟国において、立憲的多元主義とは反対方向にある「立憲的ナショナリズム」の傾向が見られることを知った。ナショナリストが国内政治において優勢になることで、歴史的経緯を踏まえて慎重に構築された立憲的枠組が容易に変更され、多数派文化に沿った国家および国民のイメージが強調されることで、少数派が社会的に不安定な立場に置かれるというような状況は、自身の研究フィールドにおいても、20世紀に存在したチェコスロヴァキアという国家に関して見られたのではないかと考えた。そこで当初の研究課題を変更して、上記博士論文のタイトルにあげた研究課題にもとづく研究を遂行した。建国当時、多民族国家であったチェコスロヴァキアにおいて1920年に制定された憲法の国民観は、人為的なネイション「チェコスロヴァキア人」を建国民族とする「エトノス」の要素と、ナショナル・マイノリティの民族的権利を保障し、彼らも市民としては「チェコスロヴァキア人」と平等であるとする「デモス」の要素を併存させたものであった。しかし、公的生活においても多数派チェコ人の文化がシンボル化されたため、ナショナル・マイノリティやスロヴァキア人には、自分たちが二義的に扱われているという不満や疎外感を与えた。第2次世界大戦後「チェコスロヴァキズム」は公式に放棄されたが、チェコ人とスロヴァキア人との間では最後まで国家観、連邦観の違いを埋めることができずに、最終的に連邦解体に至ったのであった。このようにチェコスロヴァキアにおけるネイション相互の攻防に焦点を当てた通史的な研究はこれまでほとんどなかった。
