「嬉しい」「悲しい」といった感情語は，コミュニケーションや感情の制御，理解を促すものである。感情語の使用や理解を精緻に捉えるために，本研究プロジェクトでは，１）子どもを対象とした研究，２）母子を対象とした研究を実施してきた。本年度は研究の実施を進めるとともに，国内外の学会や学術誌においてこれまで得られた知見の発表を行った。本年度新たに得られた知見として，１）に関しては，幼児期における自己のネガティブ感情と他者のネガティブ感情の推論についての研究を行った。1つ目の研究では，感情を経験する場面として，友達に自分の制作物を壊されるという被害場面を設定し，幼児を対象にその状況の解釈や感情推論に関する質問を行った。その結果，幼児は被害者が他者である場合に比べ被害者が自己である場合の方が，加害者の敵意をより低く，被害者の修復能力をより高く評価するといったように状況を楽観的に解釈し，そこで経験するネガティブ感情の強度をより低く評価することが明らかになった。2つ目の研究では，幼児を対象に経験主体が自己である場合と他者である場合のポジティブ状況とネガティブ状況への遭遇頻度の見積もりついて尋ねた。その結果，幼児は，他者に比べて自己はネガティブ状況に遭遇しにくいと考えていることが明らかとなった。２）に関しては，幼児期の子どもの母親が感情言及を強く方向づけるイラストを見せながら子どもに状況を説明する際の感情語の発話と，その子どもの感情語彙数，感情理解，社会的行動との関連についての縦断調査を行った。1時点目の結果として，ポーティブな感情制御発話をする母親の子どもほど問題行動が少ないこと，多くの種類の感情語を話す母親の子どもほど感情語彙数が多いことが示された。これらの結果から，母親の感情についての語りは子どもの社会情緒的コンピテンスに寄与することが示された。縦断調査は現在も継続中である。
