今年度は、国内学会での口頭発表を１件、書評執筆１件、文献目録の作成協力を１件行った。また、来年度に出版予定の単著の執筆に専念していた。学会発表「ザンジバルにおけるイスラーム組織ウアムショの活動」（第５３回日本アフリカ学会学術研究大会、２０１６年６月、於：日本大学）では、現在ザンジバルで活発に活動しているイスラーム系組織である「ウアムショ（Uamsho：覚醒）」について、最新の動向を発表した。ウアムショは2000年代初頭の設立当初は宗教色の強い組織であったが、２０１０年代以降は政治色を強め、ザンジバルの主権を強調し始めたことを指摘した。また、政府側の見解や先行研究では、ウアムショは「テロ組織」とされているが、ザンジバルの国家としての主権獲得やザンジバル人としてのアイデンティティーの強調というウアムショの主張が、ザンジバルの人々から大きな支持を獲得していることを示し、その理由を明らかにした。書評は、伊藤未来著『千年の都ジェンネ―多民族が暮らす西アフリカ』を執筆した。また、TONAGA Yasushi (ed.) Bibliography of Sufism, Tariqa, and Saint Cult Studies in Japanでは、協力者として主に東アフリカと西アフリカの日本人による研究成果の収集を担当し、文献目録の制作に関わった。さらに本年度は単著の出版に向けて、執筆作業に専念していた。これまで取り組んできた研究内容がタリーカ（イスラーム神秘主義教団）と預言者の医学という２つのテーマを軸に、平成２９年度中に『東アフリカにおける民衆のイスラーム（仮）』を出版する予定である。
