项目摘要

戦間期オーストリアの作家ムージルの創作の原動力は、映画をはじめとする新しいメディア技術との遭遇および中世以来の神秘主義の需要を契機として生まれた独自の形象的言語表現によって、人間の知覚の限界点を突破しようとする進取的な精神であった。このテーゼを論証すべく、本研究はさまざまなメディアが共通して不可避的に抱合することとなるナラトロジーの問題に取り組んだ。『特性のない男』（1930/32）において、引き延ばし・反復・科学的時間・一回性といった通常は両立しがたい複数の時間感覚を抱合する客観的基準として、ムージルは1913年8月から始まる歴史的〈一年〉という時間的枠組みを必要とした（Honold 2013）。本研究はこの観点を出発点に、本作品が〈一年〉という時間的枠組みを置いたにもかかわらず、その環を閉じられなかったことの意味を考え、ムージルの詩学の本質を問い直している。この作品が未完にとどまった最たる要因は、何よりも作品に内在する理念である「可能性感覚」―現在通用している概念や法則を唯一絶対のものと見做すことなく、現実世界には現れていないものの、可能性として常に潜在している、世界の他の面へと思考を広げていこうとする意識の力―そのものにある。しかし視点を変えれば、〈一年〉が完成しなかったからこそ、ムージル独自の理念は貫かれたことになる。このような暦にまつわるいわば未完結性の詩学は、一年物という物語構造を借りつつそれを換骨奪胎しており、ただ既成の物語構造の解体のみに終始しないのである。ムージルは直線的な語りの形式を乗り越えようという意識を強く持っていたが、突き詰めれば、彼の文学とその理念にも、時系列的・因果的・直線的な文学史観を乗り越えていく要素が織り込まれているのだった。以上のナラトロジーに関する考察は、他メディアとの比較の際の確たる基盤として本研究の根幹を成す観点を形成した。
