2018年度は、引き続きミラノ大学（Universita degli studi di Milano）にて研究指導委託制度を利用して在外研究を行った。まず2018年5月にはウンブリア州のスポレートに赴き、文書館にて1490年代の議事録を撮影した。これは、1490年代に教皇庁の影響下にあった地方都市の行政について知るためである。2018年10月下旬には、およそ3日間にわたって、オランダのミッデルブルクにて開催された国際学会"Bridging Divides: Third Conference of the New Diplomatica History Network"にて"Lucrezia Borgia in Spoleto (1499）:the Pope's daughter? governatorice? arbitrator?"という題目で報告を行った（英語）。この報告で扱ったのは、イタリア半島内の地方都市と大都市の関係というものであり、「外交」という本学会のテーマの枠組みには小さすぎるものであったかもしれない。しかしながら、「近代的外交」の発祥地と言われているルネサンス期のイタリア半島の政治・行政の一事例を説明したことで、外交史および政治史、国家研究との接続点を議論することができた。続いて、2018年10月末から11月初旬にかけて、ウンブリア州のトーディの文書館に赴き、1490年代の書簡を撮影した。その際に、アーキビストからテーマに基づく史料の残存状況および最新の地方史研究の状況について示唆を得ることができた。2018年11月から2019年3月までは、ミラノに戻り、ミラノ大学の図書館にて、ウンブリアの地方史および教会国家関連の研究書を使って調査を進めた。

In 2018, the University of Milano (Universita degli Studi di Milano) conducted external research by using the research guidance commission system. In May 2018, the 1490's proceedings were summarized. In the 1490s, under the influence of the Pope, the administration of the local city was informed. In late October 2018, the International Society "Bridging Divisions: Third Conference of the New Diplomatica History Network" was launched in "Lucrezia Borgia in Spoleto (1499):the Pope's daughter?" governatorice? arbitrator? "Report on the topic"(English). This report is about the relationship between local cities and metropolises in the peninsula.
