项目摘要

本研究は、ウガンダ西部ブニョロ王国を事例に、伝統的権威が平和構築を担う一主体として具体的にどのような役割を果たしうるのかを考察することを目的としている。国家の地方分権化政策や土地政策が、伝統的権威のあり方に大きな影響を及ぼしていると考えられることから、2018年度はこれらの政策の発展過程を理解し、それがいかにブニョロ王国の在り方ひいてはブニョロ地域の変容にどのような影響を及ぼしてきたのかを考察してきた。2019年度は引き続き、同地域の土地問題に焦点を当てて研究を実施した。具体的には、2019年度前半に、2018年度末にウガンダで実施したフィールド調査をもとに、学会等での口頭発表を3件行った。日本アフリカ学会第56回学術大会（2019年5月）での口頭発表が、アジア経済研究所発行『アフリカレポート』への論稿掲載へと繋がったことは大きな成果であった。また、2019年6月には、『日本学術振興会科学研究費補助金基盤研究（S）「アフリカ潜在力」と現代世界の困難の克服：人類の未来を展望する総合的地域研究』の全体会議において、貴重な発表の機会をいただくことができた。こうした発表や投稿論文の執筆過程を通して、それまでに考えていた研究の方向性を改めて熟考することができた。2020年1月には、学内でのプロポーザル・コロキアム（博士論文構想発表）を実施し、研究内容がより具体的なものとなってきた。これからも、フィールド調査を重ねる中で、適切なリサーチクエスチョンおよび仮説を見出していきたい。研究計画に対して概ね順調だったと言えるが、2019年度末に予定していたフィールド調査が、新型コロナウイルスの影響で中止となったことが悔やまれる。いつ渡航できるか分からないという不安はあるものの、理論構築や分析手法の確定など、今できることを一歩ずつ進め、フィールド調査に臨みたい。
