项目摘要

本研究は、明治期から昭和戦前期までの期間を対象に、学校が校歌を制定し、それを児童や生徒が歌うことがいかなる意味を持ったのかを明らかにすることを目的としていた。研究計画の最終年である本年度は、投稿論文の執筆、及びこれまでの成果の総まとめとして博士学位論文の執筆を行った。博士論文では、文部省、学校、地域社会の3つの視点から、（1）文部省による校歌への対応、（2）学校による校歌作成意図、（3）全国的な校歌普及時期と普及の背景、を検討した。本年度は、文部省の校歌へ関わり、及び地域社会と校歌の関係に焦点を当て、特に（1）と（3）について研究を進めた。（1）に関しては、京都府立京都学・歴彩館において校歌に関する公文書の史料調査を実施した。1931（昭和6）年9月10日公布の文部省令第二十一号により各地の学校から文部省に送付された校歌に対して、文部省が訂正を指示した箇所を分析することにより、文部省がどのような観点から校歌を審査し、校歌をいかなる歌として捉えていたのかを明らかにした。（3）に関しては、1907（明治40）年以降、全国各地の学校からの委託により校歌の作詞・作曲を行っていた東京音楽学校（現東京芸術大学音楽学部）への校歌作成委託件数の推移や先行研究による指摘を踏まえ、1930年頃を境に、校歌が全国的に普及していったことを確認した。そのうえで、『教育研究』の記事、及び1930年代に各学校から刊行された郷土教育実践報告書の内容を分析し、校歌が普及した背景には、郷土教育運動の推進が大きく関わっていたことを指摘した。前年度と本年度の研究成果を合わせ、「近代日本の学校にみる校歌の成立史」のタイトルで博士学位論文を執筆し、京都大学博士（人間・環境学）を取得した。
