昨年度は，自閉スペクトラム症者 (以下，ASDとする) 14名にインタビューを行い，感覚ゲート機能不全や「ASD特有の感覚」がこだわりにどのように関連するか質的に分析した。その結果「ASD特有の感覚」がASDのこだわりや不安などの二次障害に繋がる様子が明らかになり，仮説の検証が求められていた。当該年度は，昨年度の研究結果を発展させ，他の精神疾患には見られない「ASD特有の感覚」への考察を深めた。「ASD特有の感覚」の特徴が，「クッションなどを触わり続けていると，頭の中がその感覚でいっぱいになって満足感がある」など「感覚に対する感覚」であることが示唆されたことから「二次的感覚」と名付けた。本研究では，まず二次的感覚の程度を測定できる自己記入式の評価尺度を作成した。その結果「決して当てはまらない」～「常に当てはまる」の5件法で，2因子，14項目の尺度となった。定型発達の成人400名を対象にweb上にて実施し，標準化を行った。その上で，本研究の最終的なリサーチクエスチョンである「ASDのこだわりに対する二次的感覚の影響」「ASDの二次障害に対する二次的感覚の影響」に関して量的に検討した。ステップワイズ法による重回帰分析を行った結果，これまで指摘されてきた自閉スペクトラム症傾向の重症度に加え，感覚ゲートの機能不全もASDのこだわりと二次障害を予測することが示された。さらに，本研究で新たに着目した二次的感覚も，感覚ゲートの機能不全や自閉スペクトラム症傾向の重症度には劣るものの，ASDのこだわりや二次障害に対して一定の予測力を有することが示された。これまで，ASDのこだわりや二次障害に関しては認知的特徴の影響が中心的な要因として指摘されてきたが，本研究により，感覚ゲートの機能不全や二次的感覚など，ASDの独特な感覚特性も一定の影響を与えることが新たに示唆された。
