During this year I arrived at a unified account of the development of Nishida's metaphysics from 1911 to 1927. I found that Nishida's various key concepts can be understood as different conceptualizations of the world's infinity. In An Inquiry into the Good (1911) he described this infinity with "pure experience". In Intuition and Reflection in Self-Consciousness (1917) he introduced a mathematical dimension to the world's infinity. He attributed two contradictory notions of infinity to the world: actual and potential infinity. The contradiction is resolved in metaphysical sense of infinity, since the world transcends the laws of logic. In From the Acting to the Seeing (1927) he attempted to resolve the contradiction by conceiving a new kind of logic: the logic of place.
