メディアアート作品の保存修復は、歴史が浅いため、絵画や彫刻といった既存芸術が蓄積してきたような方法が不足している。本研究は、デジタルテクノロジーを実装したメディアアート作品の保存と修復の可能性を（１）技術的方策（２）社会的制度の2つの側面から検証する。本年度は、国内外の公文書館に収められた各種資料の管理、収集、公開を含む保存方法及び文化財保存施設における事例についての調査を行う予定であったが、昨年度に引き続き新型コロナウィルスの影響により実施を見送った。事例調査では（２）社会的制度に関する観点に主眼を置いていたが、実施困難になったことを受けて代替の方策として、（１）技術的方策に関連した（a）作品の管理運用に関する技術及び（b）保存性の高い素材について検証した。（a）作品の管理運用に関する技術では、汎用人型ロボットを用いた監視システムの実験を実施した。（b）保存性の高い素材では、石材の保存性に着目し、レーザー加工機を用いた記録媒体の制作を試行した。次年度は、本年度見合わせた事例調査を実施する予定である。また、これまで収集したデータを整理し、メディアアートの保存修復についての検証を進めていく。

The preservation and restoration of the works are incomplete, and the existing techniques of painting and carving are insufficient. This study focuses on the possibility of preservation and restoration of works of art: (1) technical measures;(2) social systems; and (3) evidence on the bottom. This year, the management, collection, disclosure, preservation methods and cultural property preservation facilities of various kinds of data collected by public libraries at home and abroad are scheduled to be investigated. Last year, the impact of new types of data collection on cultural property preservation facilities was introduced. Case studies include (2) institutional issues related to society,(3) technical issues related to the management and application of works, and (4) material preservation issues related to research. (a) The management and application of works related to the implementation of technology and the use of human resources. (b) Preservation of high quality materials, stone preservation of the eye, the use of processing machines in the production of recording media trial The next year, the current year, see the case investigation implementation scheduled. This is a collection of documents that are stored, repaired, and verified.
