项目摘要

本研究課題の当該年度の実績は以下の2点である。1点目として、王党派のチャールズ1世への忠誠と、内乱により王権が弱体化したことへの嘆きを、王党派詩人Richard Lovelaceの詩集に見られるメランコリーとして分析する研究をおこなった。Lovelaceの作品はチャールズ1世の宮廷の喪失を作品色濃く表現しており、ジョルジョ・アガンベンの議論を参考にしながら、王党派のメランコリーを体現した詩人であることを彼の恋愛詩を通じて考察し、研究会の口頭発表で報告をおこなった。2点目は、王政復古後の1670年から80年代にかけて筆記されたとされるオックスフォード大学ボドレアン図書館所蔵の手稿MS Mus. Sch. E. 451の調査をおこなったことである。王党派の作曲家Henry Lawes、William Lawes、Edward Loweらによって作曲された聖書の『詩篇』は、内乱期から共和制下にかけて、A Paraphrase upon the Divine Poems (1638) やChoice Psalmes Put into Musick for Three Voices (1648) 等を通じて出版され、1670年代まで版を重ねていた。本手稿を見ると、『詩篇』の順番とも印刷本とも異なる配列になっていることがわかり、執筆者が意図的に配列を変えていたことが窺える。例えば冒頭では神に悲しみを語る内容が筆記されているが、後半では神への賛美になるといった変化が見られる。また、王党派的快楽を示す詩の曲を筆記する詩篇の間に入れるなどをおこなっており、筆記者は『詩篇』を通じて国王を賛美する目的があった可能性を考察した。
