项目摘要

本研究では、外国語・英語教育においてしばしば問題となる「外国語のリスニングにおける文章理解度に発話速度やポーズがどのように影響を及ぼすか？」という問いに対して、文レベルの理解処理への影響という心理言語学的見地からの答えを提示するために、英語動詞句省略文を用いた行動心理実験を実施する。熟達度の異なるL2学習者の文理解処理に対する、(1)発話速度の影響(2)ポーズの影響(3)異なる発話速度でのポーズの影響を明らかにすることにより、これまで結論の一致を見ることがなかった外国語リスニング全般への発話速度・ポーズの影響に新たな視点からの考察を加えて、英語リスニング指導への示唆をもたらすことを目的としている。令和4年度は前年度に引き続き新型コロナウィルス感染症拡大の影響で研究活動に大きな支障が出た1年となった。特に校務・授業への対応（オンラインから対面への再移行及び授業のオンライン・オフライン同時提供）で研究時間の確保が極めて困難であったことが最も大きな要因としてあげあられる。一方で対面での実験実施が難しくなり大幅な方針転換が必要となった実験プラットフォームについてはPennController for IBEXというインターネットベースの実験プラットフォームの活用に向けて、協力者（他機関研究者）の支援のもと実験実施に向けた試行・取り組みが進められており、令和5年度の実験実施については問題がないものと考えている。
