本研究は大学改革の中でも失敗事例に着目し、その知見を共有して今後の大学改革に活かすことを目的としている。そのため、個別の改革事例に関わる情報収集を行った上で、それを管理職が実際に活用できるようにケース素材として蓄積することを目的としている。一昨年度は事例収集の前段階としての文献調査に加え、学長が大学改革をどのように捉えているかに関する予備調査を実施した。調査票は全国の755大学に発送し、2022年の2-3月にかけて、紙媒体とWeb調査を併用する形で実施した。有効回収数は274件、回収率は36％であった。昨年度は本調査に対する本格的分析を進め、学長の改革に対する認識が多元化する実態や背景について、組織論的なアプローチ等から考察を行った。基礎となる分析は既に終了しており、何れかの学術媒体において研究成果を報告する予定である。一方で、上記調査に協力のあった学長のうち、学長経験年数が比較的長い者を対象に、大学改革のケーススタディにも着手した。昨年度は全8大学の学長にインタビュー調査を行った。1ケースあたりのインタビューは1～1.5時間で、改革の中でもとりわけ成功認識ではない事項について、具体的に話を伺った。調査で得られた情報は、将来的に教材を目指して収集したものであり、匿名化した上で１ケース4000字程度の比較的短時間で読める具体的なケース素材として書き起こし、協力いただいた学長に内容の確認をとり、確定する作業を概ね終えた。今年度はその成果を公表する予定で、こちらも当初の予定通り作業を進めている。
