2022年度はコロナ禍による各種規制が緩和されたことを受け、8月から9月にかけて1か月ほどインドネシアにおいて調査を実施することができた。インドネシア国立図書館（ジャカルタ）では、1940年代のインドネシア語、オランダ語、中国語新聞に目を通す作業をおこなった。中ジャワ州都スマランおよび周辺都市、東ジャワ州都スラバヤおよび周辺都市、バリ州バトゥンおよび周辺都市、中スラウェシ州都パル、中スラウェシ州ポソおよび周辺都市では、地方資料館および地方図書館での資料収集、研究者および暴力被害者家族への聞き取り調査を実施した。インドネシアでの調査以外では、2022年度は資料の整理と分析に時間を費やした。収集した新聞報道を通して、権力空白期に社会的暴力が発生したことを跡づけることができはじめている。 まず、1942年3月から日本軍政が発行を始めたプロパガンダ紙『共栄報』（中国語版およびマレー語版）の分析と整理に時間を割いた。1942年3月から4月にかけての対華人暴力については、『共栄報』に断片的な記事として報道されていることを確認した。つぎに、インドネシアで目を通した1942年2月から4月までのインドネシア語新聞（数紙）では、対華人暴力のみならずインドネシア人地方名望家などへの暴力に関する記事があったことを確認済である。インドネシア紙の報道では、暴力関連記事に「（人民）主権」を意味するインドネシア語「daulat」が使用されていることを発見した。ここにはもともと人民に帰属するはずの権利を取り戻すという意味合いが含まれていると解釈をすることができる。
