研究代表者は、日中戦争期の抗日英雄・傷痍軍人張樹義について、戦後国共内戦期から改革開放時期までの報道と伝記の変遷を分析した。内戦期に現れた張樹義の報道は、指導者らの張の身体への配慮の眼差しが描かれる一方で、共和国成立初期における復員軍人を中心とした生産運動を先取りするものであった。共和国成立後の報道・伝記は復員工作の開始後に現れ、身体への配慮の眼差しが消え、自己犠牲のみが強調されるようになる。大躍進時期には地主との階級闘争を主題とし、家族の情を隠れた重要な主題とする伝記が成立した。傷痍軍人の補償における位置づけと、国家の作り上げる表象について、日本・ロシア・ドイツでの相違を初歩的に分析した。軍人への恩給・補償について、戦傷者を優遇する制度設計は日本・ドイツと同様であるが、1950年代の中国において退役者には一時金以外の恩給は存在せず、原則戦傷者・公務による負傷者のみが傷痍軍人として補償を受ける制度となっていた。戦病者への補償は別枠で行われ、精神病者については、戦傷の回復後、精神障害がある場合のみ傷痍軍人として扱われる規定となっており、日本・ドイツに比べて、傷痍軍人の位置づけは戦傷者とより強く結びつけられていた。また模範としての傷痍軍人の表象においては、日本やロシアの模範の物語が描く葛藤の過程や恋愛・女性の要素はほぼなく、まれに登場する女性は傷痍軍人を支える模範であった。総じて傷痍軍人模範の表象は、失われた男性性の回復を国家民族の問題として提示するコロニアル・マスキュリニティ(植民地的男性性)の究極の形態ともいえるものであった。この他、日本で刊行された中共史2冊の書評を兼ねて、今後の中共史研究の課題について検討した。研究分担者は、1948～49年における中共の政権構想と支配の正当性の問題について、土地改革、人民政治協商会議、人民代表大会を中心に分析を行った。
