项目摘要

本研究は、戦後の沖縄の混乱期にあって米軍統治下で米軍に従事していたフィリピン人と婚姻後、フィリピンに渡った沖縄女性たちを研究対象としている。研究目的として、沖縄女性たちのフィリピンへの移動前後の状況、そしてフィリピンへの移動の実態を、文字資料と体験者の証言を用いてその特質を明らかにすることである。初年度は、仮の章立てを行い、論文における仮の構成を作成し、主に文献資料、公文書、女性たちの証言の分析による、その沖縄女性たちがフィリピン人男性と出会い、沖縄で生活する歴史的な背景について明らかにしてきた。フィリピン人の夫との婚姻を決めた理由について、「なぜ、結婚の相手に沖縄の男性を選択せず、フィリピン人の男性を選択したのか」とたずねたところ、個人の心情の問題もあり、「そうね」「なんでかね」「やさしいではあったさね」など確信的な言葉はなく、口ごもったり、その質問から発言を避けたりするような対象者も多く、プライバシーの問題でもあり、追及することはできなかった。フィリピン人の夫との婚姻を決めた理由については、基地内での職場環境において知り合い、お互いの恋愛関係のもとに結婚に至ったケースが多い。しかし、それがすべてではなく、当時の米軍支配下における、米国人、フィリピン人と琉球人との経済及び生活格差が多少なりとも影響し、結婚の決断に至ったケースがあることも否定できない。現在フィリピンでの生活では、フィリピン移住後の戸惑い、生活、沖縄県人どおしとの繋がりなどについて聞き取りを進めている。また、沖縄が日本に復帰したあと帰住する女性もおりその生活面での特徴について調査を続けている。
