本研究は（１）複言語・複文化環境で育つ子どもたちの学びや成長を支える言語能力の発達（特に、自分の意見を伝える産出能力）の実態を探ること、および（２）その力を育成するための支援のあり方を探ることを目的としている。（１）二言語能力の発達については、令和4年度は「外国人児童生徒のための対話型アセスメントDLA」（文部科学省2014）を用いて、小学校2校（A校、B校）で、計16名の児童を対象に、日本語、および母語での二言語能力の測定、および評価を行った。さらに日本語指導を担当している教員へのインタビュー調査を実施し、対象児童へのこれまでの支援内容や課題について調査を行った。対象校との話し合いの中で、次年度以降は対象児童を増やし、継続して調査を行うことで話がまとまったため、対象児童の二言語能力及び支援体制の変化を継続して探る体制が整った。さらにインタビュー時には、子どもたちの課題に合わせて、こちらから支援方法についての助言を行うことで、よりよい支援環境をともに構築していく体制もできた。当初の計画では、（１）については横断的にアセスメントのデータのみを収集する予定であったが、二言語能力の変化や支援内容の変化、その時の子どもたちの様子を探ることは本研究の目的（１）の言語能力の発達の実態を探るだけでなく、（２）の支援のあり方を探るためにも重要なデータとなる。（２）支援のあり方の探求については、（１）とは異なる、ある1つの小学校（C校）を対象にDLAの実施、および日本語教室の参与観察、教員へのインタビュー調査を実施した。参与観察では、教員が子どもたちの発話をどのように引き出しているのか、また、教科に関わる内容の理解をどのように促し、どのように概念を形成していくのかに注目しながら観察を行った。この調査結果については、これから分析しまとめる予定である。
