日本の医学教育において長期アウトカム評価（どのような人材を生み出したか）はほとんどなされておらず、我々はそのツールとしてのカルテピアレビューシステムの開発に取り組んできた。一方、日本の近年の研究力低下は深刻であり、その原因の一つに研究者の減少が指摘されている。そのような中、本邦の初期研修病院は大学病院と比べて市中病院の割合が少しずつ増えてきている。両者の長所・短所が議論されているが、研修後の診療パフォーマンスの違いや研究者志向性への影響を検討した研究はほとんどない。そこで、初期研修を大学病院と市中病院で行った場合の長期アウトカムの違いを、診療面（カルテピアレビューシステムによるパフォーマンス評価）と研究面（その後の研究への関わりを含めた全国アンケート）で明らかにすることが本研究の目的である。5月に研究代表者・分担者が集まって研究計画を検討し、9月にカルテピアレビューの評価担当者も交えて討論した。その結果、カルテピアレビューに関しては、熟練した評価者のみでなく一般の教育関係者が評価できるような汎用化の必要性が指摘され、仮想シナリオを元に（コロナ禍で普及した）遠隔システムを駆使して信頼性・妥当性を再度検証する方針となった。全国アンケートに関しては、新専門医制度によって医師の移動が変化し複雑化しているため、対象と設問（研修後の研究者志向性を測定する指標）を再検討する方針となった。
