2022年は、Percy Bysshe Shelley（1792-1822）の没後200周年の年であり、世界各地でShelleyやイギリス・ロマン主義の現代的な意義が活発に議論された年であった。本研究では、人新世の区分の中で、Shelleyを中心にイギリス・ロマン主義の文学者たちの自然との向き合い方を検討した。本年度前半では、“Mountain that ‘Walks Abroad.’”という論文をまとめ、Shelleyの没後200周年を記念して詩人が没した日に発行されたEssays in Honour of Percy Bysshe Shelley on the Bicentenary of His Death, 1822-2022 (https://www.gothickeatspress.com/the-mountain-that-walks-abroadGothicKeats Press 2022.7.8)に掲載された。また、没後200周年記念行事として、イタリアのKeats-Shelley HouseとKeats-Shelley Association of Americaが共同で開催した国際学会の第2部グローバルリーディング“The Triumph of Life: A global reading of The Triumph of Life, Shelley’s last, unfinished poem, in fifteen languages read by readers from twenty-six locations around the world”に日本の代表として参加した。（2022年7月9日にYoutubeで公開された。https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co8skXffV1I）後半では、2月のロシアによるウクライナ侵攻を受けて、人類の歴史の中での「帝国」の位置づけ、人間が造営した都市の廃墟と自然の関係を検討し、英文学会九州支部第75回大会の特別講演として、「“The lone and level sands stretch far away”――Shelleyと帝国の夢」を発表した。その後、同様の関心を持つ研究者たちと意見交換を行った。

After the 200th anniversary of the 2022 and Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822) years, we will discuss the meaning of the two generations around the world in terms of the meaning of the Shelley revolution. The purpose of this study is to make a distinction between the Chinese literature and the Shelley in the Pliocene.
