项目摘要

2022年度はSuzan-Lori Parksの主要作品（Father Comes Home from the Wars [Parts 1,2 & 3], The America Play, Venus, Topdog/Underdog）について〈主体〉・身体・情動の視点から読み直しを進めた。読み直しにあたっては、以下の３点に焦点を合わせた。第1に劇作家の歴史に対する関係およびテクストに描かれる〈主体〉と歴史・記憶の関係、第2に作品中のサブテクストとして書き込まれる経済（貨幣）と〈主体〉の位置および限定的agencyの問題、第3に作劇法と身体によって生ずる情動の作用である。これら3点の検討のためにアフリカ系アメリカ文学・芸術批評における奴隷制の歴史表象についての先行研究の調査・検討を行った。また情動の固着する対象としての〈自由〉とリベラルな理想の脆弱さについて、文学・文化批評における関連先行研究の調査・検討を行った。Parksの作品において〈自由〉や〈選択〉が極めて限定的であることについて確認できたが、同時に作劇法と身体によって生ずる情動の作用は多様なものと想定され、そこに一定のagencyを見出す可能性も検討された。予定していたアーカイブ調査は、COVID感染状況を考慮して、延期とした。2022年度調査の結果は、一部を2023年6月24日-25日に中京大学にて開催される黒人研究学会第69回年次大会で発表する。
