日本語の述語文は客観的側面と主観的側面から成り立つとされ、近年は前者にかかわる叙述の類型の議論が盛んである。しかし、どのような類型を認めるかという点には検討の余地があり、また、文の成り立ちにおける叙述の機能という点も十分明らかになっていない。そこで、本研究においては、どのような視点から叙述の類型を考えていくかということを検討し、叙述の類型としていかなるものを認めるべきかという点を考察する。そして、それをふまえて、その叙述のタイプがどのような機能を果たすのかを明らかにすることを目的とする。本年度は、従来の叙述の類型に関する議論の適否・功罪をあらためて検討し、その問題点やさらに展開すべき主張の確認をおこなった上で、述語文の叙述の類型としてどのようなものを認めるべきかを検討した。叙述の類型を認めていくという点で、従来の研究でおこなわれてきたような時間性の観点にもとづくことには問題があることが、これまでの研究ですでに明らかになりつつあったが、本年度はこの点についてさらに検討を加え、やはり、時間性の観点から叙述の類型を認めることは避けるべきだという帰結を得た。また、措定・指定といった名詞述語文の分類を起点とした分類は、必ずしも名詞述語文の分類にとどまるものではなく、叙述類型を認めていく観点として、重要なもののひとつであることが明らかになった。もちろん、それだけでは十分ではないことから、他の観点も検討した。とくに、現象描写文という文類型の検討もおこない、これも叙述類型を考える際に有力な観点であると考えた。
