基本構文のプロトタイプ的特徴付けに先だって、本年は述語の基本形と派生形の対応とそのあり方を調査対象に定め研究を進めた。特に研究の中核をなしたのは、自・他の対応であって、対をなす動詞において、自動詞・他動詞のどちらかが基本形であり、どちらが派生形であるのかを調査・検討した。日本語では、tom-ar:tom-e-ruのように自他共に双方が派生的なもの、wwak-wak-as-uのように他動詞が派生的なもの、そしてwar-e-ru:war-uのように自動詞の方が派生的なものと3つのパターンが見られるが、特に注目したのは、派生形と有標性の関係である。すなわち、自動詞が基本形で表される概念・状況とその自発性との相関を日本語その他の言語で追究した結果、やはりかなり顕著な傾向がみられた。すなわち、自発的な事象は自動詞が基本形である場合が多く、逆に典型的に行為者が関与する状況を表す他動詞はそれが基本形であり、自動詞の方が派生的である。今後は、自動詞と形容詞との相関関係にも研究範囲を広めるとともに、構文全体に対しても有標性の観点から検討を加え、プロタイプ的自動詞構文、プロタイプ的他動詞構文の形態的・統語的特性を明かにしていきたい。
