项目摘要

本研究は、日本の代表的鉱山である佐渡金銀山において江戸時代に製作された鉱山技術書群を分析し、鉱山技術史のみならず、鉱山社会史の研究を進展させることを目的とする。今年度は、採鉱に関する鉱山用語・鉱山用具の抽出を目指した。このため、まず、多様な佐渡金銀山の鉱山技術書群の中から、採鉱に関する記述が豊富で詳細な技術書を検討した。鉱山用語については、18世紀中期頃の『佐州金銀山諸道具其外名附留帳』（新潟県立歴史博物館所蔵）、『銀山仕様書』（新潟県立佐渡総合高等学校橘鶴堂文庫所蔵）を選定して、採鉱に関するものを中心に約100件を抽出し、翻刻と現代語訳を試みた。そして、これらの鉱山用語の有効な解説手法を検討するため、佐渡金銀山を中心とした全国諸鉱山の用語解説に関する先行研究の問題点を整理した。また、抽出した鉱山用語のなかから、金掘大工を中心とした坑内労働者の組織、編成や賃金に関するデータの整理を試みた。今後、鉱山技術書以外の文献と照らし合わせ、労働組織や労働環境を中心とした鉱山社会史の解明を見据えたい。鉱山用具については、『金銀山見立鋪内之様子稼方并諸道具図』（国立国会図書館所蔵）、『見聞雑記』（国立公文書館所蔵）を選定し、採鉱関係を中心とした画像データを集積した。また、そのような鉱山用具の具体的な使用状況を知るために、一連の作業工程が描かれる佐渡金銀山絵巻においてどのような場面でどのように使用されているのかを特定し、鉱山用具の姿とその使用状況をビジュアルにわかりやすく理解するための手法を探った。
