1880年代における日朝漁業問題に関する外交交渉の実態を明らかにする作業の一環として、本年度は1887年に発生した山田荒治事件（朝鮮の外交担当機関である統理交渉通商事務衙門に雇用された山田荒治が、朝鮮海に出漁した日本人漁民から徴税を実施したことが外交問題化したもの）の研究を行った。①統理交渉通商事務衙門が山田を雇用するに至った経緯、衙門が山田に発給した文書の分析、山田事件が外交問題化した後の日朝交渉の展開過程を明らかにすることを通して、衙門の対日漁業政策における戦略を考察した論文「山田荒治事件（一八八七年）をめぐる朝鮮の戦略的外交―開港期の日朝漁業問題一考―」をまとめた。（『東洋史研究』82－1，2023年6月発行に掲載予定）②上記論文で扱えなかった部分、すなわち、山田荒治側の事情と開港場釜山における対馬コネクション、徴税現場における実態、金玉均暗殺計画との関連について明らかにすることを通して、日朝関係の実態と衙門の戦略をより立体的に描き出そうとした論文「開港期日朝関係の実相と統理交渉通商事務衙門―山田荒治事件（1887年）を中心に」（原文韓国語）をまとめた。（『韓国学研究』69集、2023年5月発行に掲載予定）
