今年度も『両国往復書謄』に記録されている外交書契のデータベース化を進めた。また分析を進めていくなかで、データベースの構成についても改良を加え、対馬藩関係・以酊庵関係の他史料との紐付けも開始した。この点は事業期間中に終えられるかどうか見通しを付けることは難しいものの、今後近世日朝関係を研究・分析する上で非常に重要となることは明らかである。そのため、この作業も順次進めていきたい。また、データベース化を進めると同時に『分類紀事大綱』など周辺の史料の分析も同時に進めた。そのなかで、書契に用いられる字句について問題になる事例はあるものの、大きな事件にはならずに収束し、書契の規則や日朝両国の関係に大きな変化もあまり見られないことが明らかになりつつある。これは、焦点となっている問題が小さいのではなく、大きな事件としないような意識が働いていることが要因である可能性が高い。近世日朝関係において、対馬藩と朝鮮政府、江戸幕府と朝鮮政府、対馬藩と江戸幕府など、それぞれの関係において対外意識・自意識が形成されていくことになるが、こうした意識の形成において書契をめぐる対応も影響を与えているものと推測できる。今年度は論点を整理する目的も含め、アウトリーチ活動についても注力し、研究内容を一般向けの講演や講習会で紹介した。
