本研究は，日本人高齢者の引退移動に関わる人間関係を，社会ネットワーク分析の枠組みを用いて明らかにすることを目的としている。特に，国内移動と国際移動，短期的滞在と長期的滞在のそれぞれの特徴を明らかにする。2022年度は，全体的な分析枠組みに用いているライフヒストリーと社会ネットワーク分析に関わる広範なレビュー調査を実施した。社会ネットワーク分析に用いるための，人間関係（交友関係）に関するデータ収集方法を整理した。検討を進め，調査票に反映させる予定である。さらに，日本国内における移動に関して，統計データの分析を進めた。2022年度中に，2020年国勢調査の移動に関する種々のデータが利用できるようになり，年齢および個人属性による引退移動の特性を第一に明らかにしようと分析している段階である。なお，高齢者の移動のすべてがライフスタイル移動に該当するわけではないため，世帯の統計データとの組み合わせや他の資料の活用などを検討し，移動の背景にも迫りたい。また，2022年度に現地調査を実施できていないが，タイで予定している現地調査の準備を進めた。タイのチェンマイには日本人高齢者が多く滞在しており，調査協力者にWeb上でコンタクトをとった。新型コロナウイルス感染症が，現地の日本人社会にどのような影響を与えているのか概況を把握することを目的とした。2022年度の段階では，長期的滞在の日本人高齢者に従前からの変化がみられないものの，短期的滞在の人たちがまだ回復していない状況が明らかとなった。これを受けて，2022年度ではなく，2023年度中の現地調査の準備を始めている。
