研究の初年度にあたる2022年度には、理論と方法の両面にわたりケインズ経済学の意義と特質について考察を加え、今後のいっそうの発展の方向を大まかに見定めることに努めた。これと併せて、ポスト・ケインズ派経済学をはじめ、広く異端派マクロ経済学の諸潮流における新動向の把握にも取り組んだ。これらの作業を通じて、ケインズ経済学の今日的可能性がどこにあるのかについての検討を進めた。その一環として、同年度にはロバート・スキデルスキー著（鍋島直樹訳）『経済学のどこが問題なのか』名古屋大学出版会、の訳書を公刊した。ケインズ研究の第一人者である著者が、自らの深い学殖にもとづき、経済学のあり方を根本から問い直すことを訴えた問題提起の書である。同書の目的は、経済学の研究が行なわれている方法それ自体を問い直すことによって、これからの経済学が進むべき方向を探ることにある。とりわけ著者は、諸個人の価値観や選好は社会のなかで各人が置かれた位置によって形づくられるのであるから、社会現象を個人の行動の単なる集計と見なすことはできないという点を強調している。さらに同書の大きな魅力は、経済学はもとより、心理学・政治学・社会学・歴史学・倫理学などの幅広い分野の多様な学説が検討の俎上に載せられていることにある。現実世界をより良く理解するために社会諸科学の成果を積極的に活用しようとする著者の姿勢から、われわれは多くを学ぶことができるだろう。なお同訳書は、複数の学会誌のほか、週刊経済誌2誌の書評欄でも取り上げられるなど、学界にとどまらず広く社会において注目を集め、好意的な評価を受けている。
