本研究は、日本の家族の近代性を「親密性」や「愛情」という側面から描き出すことを目的とし、「食」という局面にテーマを絞って実証的な分析を行うものである。1年目である2022年度は、まず家族の親密性をめぐって1990年代から現在に至るまで国内外で展開された重要な理論研究をリサーチし、理論枠組の構築および課題の整理をおこなった。具体的にはA.ギデンズやU.ベックらが中心となって展開された、再帰的近代における親密性の変容についての議論をリサーチし、欧米と日本の社会状況の違いや、ギデンズの理論枠組ではとらえきれない部分についての整理をおこなった。ギデンズによれば「純粋な関係」の成立のためには「選択」の際に個人による自発性が確保されていること、および選択肢の複数性が確保されていることが必要である。しかし現代日本の家族をめぐる社会状況は、長引く不況や長時間労働の慣行、家事負担の著しいジェンダー格差の継続などがあり、諸個人にとっては決して十分な選択肢が確保されているわけではない。次にこれと並行して、近代家族の情緒的関係をめぐる重要な実証研究をリサーチ・収集し、理論枠組の精緻化と補強をおこなった。特に近年では日本の家族の情緒的関係を対象として、近代家族の複数性や重層性を描き出す実証研究が多く出ているが、そこでは夫婦関係と親子関係がそれぞれ別個に検証されることが多かった。本研究ではこれをふまえ、親子関係と夫婦関係の相互の連関性をも分析していく必要があることが分かった。また2022年度はこれらの作業と並行して、「食」をめぐる様々な書籍や雑誌記事・新聞記事を閲覧し、分析対象とするべきテクストの予備調査と検討をおこなった。さらに方法論関係専門書籍を収集し、ドキュメント分析の手法の精緻化を行った。
