本研究の目的は、社会学の行為理論を用いて、行為者の動機に焦点をあてた新たな高齢者虐待の概念モデルを構築することである。行為の本質とは、行為者の意図・目的を踏まえた行為であるとする理解社会学の行為理論を援用する。高齢者虐待の本質に迫る概念を構築するために、虐待の当事者である虐待者と被虐待者の声や体験を踏まえて検討する。そのため裁判となった虐待判断ケースの供述調書より、データ収集を行う予定であった。2022年度は、新型コロナウイルス感染症の影響で、県外への調査を控えたことから、県内の1件の情報収集（事件概要整理、裁判傍聴を行った）に留まっている。情報を整理し、データの入力や分析の準備を進めている。
