项目摘要

本年度の主な研究実績は、以下の知見を得たことである。高齢期において後悔を解消する機会の制限を感じ、人生の残り時間が短いと認識すると、人生の困難に直面したときに、環境を変える1次コントロール方略よりも、認知を変える2次コントロール方略の方が適応的だという仮説を検討するために、20－77歳の成人488名を対象としたウェブ調査を実施した。報告された人生の困難領域は、仕事・教育（36.9％）、家族関係・恋人関係（19.7％）、経済面（18.6％）、健康面（15.1％）であった。結果としては、年齢は、コントロール方略や人生満足度と線形の関連がなかった。高齢であるかにかかわらず、2次コントロール方略を用いることは、人生の満足度や加齢に対する態度のポジティブな側面を予測した。さらに、年齢にかかわらず、精神的不健康状態であり人生に制限を感じている状態である場合に、人生の困難に対して1次コントロールを用いることは、加齢に対する態度のネガティブな側面に関して有意な予測をしていることが明らかとなった。これらのことから以下の2点の知見が得られた。1点目は、生物学的な年齢よりも、人生の残り時間の認識や制限されていることに対する認識が重要であると考えられ、個人差を捉えるうえでの重要な要因となると考えられることである。2点目は、加齢や人生を受け入れていくポジティブな側面を高めることと、ネガティブな側面を和らげることは、別の心理的メカニズムを想定して考えるべきであることである。適応的なコントロール方略には文化差がみられることが知られており、自身の人生に悔いを残さずに締めくくる上での日本人にとって適応的な方略について知見を重ねていく予定である。
