今回の科研費による研究では、ギムナジウムを対象として、1980年代のドイツ中等学校の学校経営様式を明らかにすることを目的とした。ドイツでは1970年代に各州において父母、生徒の学校参加が法制化されて、これを受けて1980年代はその定着が見られた時期にあたる。同時に州によっては総合制学校が導入され、このことによってギムナジウムの位置づけも相対的に変化することとなった。中等学校全体のバランスを見ると、ギムナジウムへの進学者が増加したこともあり、1980年代には質的にも量的にもギムナジウムの役割や機能が変化することになったという点は見過ごせない。こうした中で、ギムナジウムの学校経営様式に関して、その特質として次の点が明らかとなった。すなわち、大学進学を主目的とするギムナジウムでは、とくに教育内容や教育方法に関する事項に関して、父母や生徒の学校参加が活発になされており、これにより学校側も意思形成において父母、生徒との連携・協力を強める傾向にあるという点である。しかしながら今回の研究をとおして、ギムナジウムの学校経営様式は、実科学校、基幹学校、総合制学校といった、他の中等教育の学校における学校経営様式との関連においても把握する必要があることが明らかとなり、ギムナジウムにおける学校経営様式の全体像を明らかにするという点では課題を残している。したがって、今後さらに、他の学校種別における学校経営様式と並行して考察を深めていくという作業が必要となる。これによって、学校経営様式を分析する枠組み自体も、より精緻化することができると考える。
