项目摘要

複数の先行研究において、学習者のL2産出における「統語構造の複雑性」は，L2発達指標の一つとして用いられている。しかしながら、学習者の統語構造の発達はL2のスピーキングまたはライティングのいずれかから実証されることが多く，同一の学習者の両モードでの発達過程や、EFL学習者の統語的複雑性の発達がL2運用能力の指標となるのかについては明らかにされていない。そこで、本研究では、日本人EFL学習者（高等専門学校学生）のスピーキングとライティングの両産出に見られる統語構造の複雑性と、その発達過程を明らかにすることを目標として実証研究を行っている。昨年度は、まず前年度までに行ったパイロット・スタディの結果をまとめて、学会報告と論文投稿を行った。パイロット・スタディでは、高等専門学校（高専）学生21名（15～17歳）を対象にスピーキングとライティングのタスクを実施した。収集したデータは電子化した後、スピーキングでは総語数3263語、ライティングでは総語数3423語となった。先行研究に従って分析を行い、その結果は、両モードの産出において、学習者がより簡単な構造を用いて文を産出し、複雑な文の産出を避ける傾向を示した。よって、先行研究で指摘されているようなＬ２発達における複雑性の発達の重要性は、日本人EFL学習者のL2発達においても意味をもつのかの根本的な問題が残された。しかしながら、昨年度は本研究代表者が勤務校を異動となったため、これまでの縦断研究を行うことが困難となり、再度、新たな日本人EFL学習者16名（高専生、16～19歳）を対象に実証研究を実施することとなった。この実証研究については、前年度までに行った方法と同様に、スピーキングとライティングのそれぞれで同様のタスクを実施して、データを取集した。現在、データ処理を行っており、分析結果が整い次第、学会申し込みを行う予定である。
