Wider environmental considerations will transform what we build, the materials we use, and how we build. In 2019-20, the total housing stock in England increased by around 244,000 homes, approximately 1% higher than the previous year. The number of new homes supplied annually has been growing for several years but is still lower than estimated need. In addition, there is enormous pressure to improve the energy performance of buildings. Tackling these issues represents a real opportunity with global growth forecast in green and sustainable building construction 22.8% p.a. on average between 2012 and 2017\. This project will increase the content of recycled materials in modular construction products without compromising quality and performance enabling the use and reuse of larger quantities of recycled materials in production and integrate recycled polymers into a construction prefab cradle-to-cradle circular economy.
