Treecle aims to help farmers explore, plan and implement woodland creation projects on their land in order to diversify and stabilise their revenues and contribute to net zero.The UK's farmers care deeply about their land and want to enhance nature on it, but they find it very hard to work out where to start with woodland creation and what options to consider. They specifically describe three barriers:1. It's hard to calculate multiple, specific scenarios for their land2. It's hard to estimate the financial costs and benefits3. Applying for subsidies is admin heavy and carbon markets are a mysteryTo overcome these barriers, Treecle will:* combine traditional mapping and geospatial data with the increasing volumes of low-cost satellite data in order to automatically deliver options for a farmer's land at a sub-1-acre level.* calculate the expected financial return for the different options providing land owners the information they need to plant trees and get paid for their contribution to Net Zero* automate the subsidy application for the correct government subsidies. It will also connect carbon offset buyers with project developers, unlocking additional financing for UK woodland creation.By enabling farmers to overcome these barriers, Treecle will help kick-start a massive increase in woodland creation in the UK, helping farmers to diversify and stabilise their incomes and to contribute to net zero.
