The IRF has engaged in development of assays for detection and semi-quantification of neutralizing antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 as possible therapeutics. Advances in identification of pathogen specific antibodies and techniques for propagating and purifying them has allowed development of antibodies as potential therapeutics with reduced possibility of complications. The IRF has been working with multiple collaborators to evaluate antibody candidates as well as convalescent plasma in in-vitro neutralizing and total antibody assays and the hamster model of COVID-19.
