Lots of people love music and want to play an instrument but don't think they are musical or have the time or ability to learn. Traditional instruments are tricky to play with fiddly layouts, especially with a disability, and you need expert knowledge to sound and feel good.This lack of suitable choice means children and adults are excluded from the social & health benefits of music-making as well as opportunities to work which drives an ED&I crisis in the music and wider creative industries, with disabled people being absent across all parts of musical life. Meanwhile, the power of music in our culture just gets stronger and stronger.Our goal is to remove the barriers to music-making faced by people who find conventional instruments and ways of learning inaccessible for whatever reason. So we fuse musical know-how with gaming design to develop award-winning, user-friendly instruments that bring the enjoyment of playing an instrument and making music to more people. We provide a unified experience - a cohesive ecosystem that empowers and embraces new music creators, without overwhelming and discouraging them.Our current innovation is disruptive and we have patent protection, this project will develop a totally new, affordable and effective way to learn to play an instrument and compose music by combining the scalability of a software platform with gamification and great learning content. A universally useable software instrument with an integrated notation rhythm game using finger touch and eye movements as interaction inputs. And creates a job for a skilled person, with the view to long-term employment.Using universal design, non-disabled and disabled users with no previous musical experience drive and interact with the software app in exactly the same way. Features that enhance access for some people, do not diminish the user experience for others, only adding further improvements and playability.By adding a software instrument, accessible notation and a significant amount of new content to our services, the learning of music is made available to millions of new users with the potential to create jobs for minoritised groups across a number of associated sectors.Moving on a few years we will have competitors but by completing these project activities, our time to market with this innovation reduces by 12-18 months, Digit takes a step closer to becoming the UK leader on the central stage of music and creativity, growing exports for the UK, supporting the economy.
