DeGould is an award-winning innovative engineering company focused on capture and digitalisation of vehicle image to support damage liability assignment throughout the automotive supply-chain. They are looking to significantly enhance their current imaging system and develop it into an intelligent inspection technology for vehicle quality assessment. This project aims to develop an innovative Artificial Intelligence (AI) based technology to improve their service offering, as well as create a new product offer. The Auto-Scanner AI will use the developed AI technology, applied in a lighter-frame, more affordable and "drive through" hardware solution, enable Degould to expand its offer and create value to car rental businesses.DeGould has a strong development team, the right partnerships in place and strong market pull for the solution both from their current clients (OEMs/Posts) but also close contact and interest from rental businesses that expressed a clear need for this innovation.DeGould initially planned on installing the Auto-Compact product at a British OEM to test the capability and performance of the system against the traditional quality control techniques. Due to recent global circumstances the new car industry has faced major issues this year and is continuing to do so in the coming months. This has led to the proposed partners are no longer able to install the DeGould system in the timeline of the Innovate UK project. DeGould therefore wishes to transfer the testing phase of the project to the used car industry and test at Smart Fleet Solutions facility. This will have a similar throughput to one of the proposed OEM's but due to the nature of the used car industry the data we collect will be richer in damage data which will significantly help the machine learning and AI algorithms which are used on the individual images.
